靠背輪聯軸器用來(lai)將不同(tong)機構中的主動(dong)軸(zhou)和(he)從動(dong)軸(zhou)牢固地聯接(jie)起來(lai)一同(tong)旋轉(zhuan)，并傳遞運動(dong)和(he)扭(niu)矩的機械部(bu)件。有(you)時(shi)也用以聯接(jie)軸(zhou)與其他零(ling)件（如齒(chi)輪、帶(dai)輪等）。

靠背輪(lun)常由兩(liang)半(ban)合(he)成，分別用鍵或緊配合(he)等聯(lian)接(jie)，緊固在(zai)兩(liang)軸(zhou)端，再通(tong)過某種方式將兩(liang)半(ban)聯(lian)接(jie)起來。

靠背輪聯軸(zhou)器可兼有(you)補(bu)償(chang)兩(liang)軸(zhou)之間由于(yu)制造安裝不(bu)精確、工作(zuo)時(shi)的變形或(huo)熱膨(peng)脹(zhang)等原因所發生的偏(pian)(pian)移(yi)（包括軸(zhou)向(xiang)偏(pian)(pian)移(yi)、徑(jing)向(xiang)偏(pian)(pian)移(yi)、角偏(pian)(pian)移(yi)或(huo)綜合偏(pian)(pian)移(yi)）；以及緩和沖(chong)擊(ji)、吸振。

靠(kao)背輪為(wei)俗(su)稱，專(zhuan)業叫(jiao)法(fa)為(wei)聯軸(zhou)器以及法(fa)蘭，用于機械設(she)備的連接。
