靠背輪聯軸器用來將不同(tong)機(ji)(ji)構中的主動(dong)軸(zhou)和從動(dong)軸(zhou)牢固地(di)聯接起來一同(tong)旋轉(zhuan)，并(bing)傳遞運動(dong)和扭矩的機(ji)(ji)械部(bu)件。有時也用以(yi)聯接軸(zhou)與其他零件（如齒輪、帶輪等）。

靠背輪常由兩半合成(cheng)，分別(bie)用鍵(jian)或緊配合等聯接(jie)(jie)，緊固在(zai)兩軸(zhou)端，再通過某種方式將兩半聯接(jie)(jie)起來。

靠背(bei)輪聯(lian)軸器可兼有(you)補償兩(liang)軸之(zhi)間由于制造安裝不精確、工作時的(de)變(bian)形或熱膨脹等原因所發生(sheng)的(de)偏(pian)移(yi)（包(bao)括軸向偏(pian)移(yi)、徑向偏(pian)移(yi)、角偏(pian)移(yi)或綜合偏(pian)移(yi)）；以及緩和沖(chong)擊、吸振。

靠背輪為俗稱，專業叫法為聯軸器(qi)以及法蘭，用于機(ji)械設備(bei)的連接。
